Song Release "Loose Strings"

The Marcus Shelby Orchestra performs Shelby's Black Ball: The Negro Leagues and the Blues, premiering an extended version of the piece for big band. The composition pays homage to the first black baseball players, as well as the "territory bands" that toured specific regions of the United States in the early 20th century. Concertgoers should expect surprises: clowns and physical comedy are on the agenda, too.

Jamie Zee is thrilled to be playing with Marcus Shelby's band at the 2019 EMMY Gala this year.  She will be performing some of the jazz standards.

Premiering vocalist and winner of Jazz Search West 2017, Jamie Zee is one of the Bay Area’s most sought out composers. This upcoming artist’s style is evocative, alluring, soulful, and innovative.  Ms. Zee performs an array of compositions and arrangements of originals as well as the classics of funk, soul, jazz, reggae, and Afro-Cuban jazz. Audiences enjoy the fusion of cultures she brings from all around the Bay Area. Her style is uniquely San Franciscan and embodies the life of an LGBTQ, Chinese American woman.
